Position Overview-PGT English Teacher job
The PGT English Teacher will be responsible for teaching English to students in higher secondary grades (classes 11 and 12). The ideal candidate will have 3-5 years of teaching experience, a strong command of the English language, and a passion for educating young minds. This role requires a thorough understanding of the curriculum, the ability to engage and motivate students, and a commitment to fostering a positive learning environment.
Key Responsibilities-PGT English Teacher job
1. Classroom Instruction:
– Plan and deliver engaging and interactive English lessons that align with the school curriculum and educational standards.
– Use a variety of teaching methods and materials to cater to different learning styles and abilities.
– Encourage critical thinking, creativity, and analytical skills through discussions, assignments, and projects.
– Prepare and deliver lessons that focus on literature, grammar, writing, and oral communication skills.
– Assess and evaluate students’ progress regularly through tests, assignments, and examinations.
2. Curriculum Development:
– Develop and implement a comprehensive English curriculum that meets the educational goals and standards of the school.
– Update and revise lesson plans and teaching materials as needed to ensure they remain relevant and effective.
– Incorporate modern teaching techniques and technology into the curriculum to enhance the learning experience.
– Collaborate with other teachers and school staff to integrate interdisciplinary approaches to learning.
3. Student Support:
– Provide individual support and guidance to students to help them overcome academic challenges and achieve their full potential.
– Identify and address the diverse learning needs of students, including those with special educational needs.
– Maintain open and effective communication with students, encouraging them to express their ideas and concerns.
– Foster a positive and inclusive classroom environment where all students feel valued and respected.
4. Assessment and Reporting:
– Design and administer regular assessments to monitor and evaluate students’ academic progress and understanding of the subject.
– Provide timely and constructive feedback to students on their performance.
– Maintain accurate and detailed records of students’ grades, attendance, and other relevant information.
– Prepare comprehensive reports on students’ progress and communicate these effectively to parents and school administration.
5. Professional Development:
– Stay updated with the latest developments in English education, including new teaching methodologies and curriculum changes.
– Participate in professional development workshops, seminars, and conferences to enhance teaching skills and knowledge.
– Engage in continuous self-improvement by reflecting on teaching practices and seeking feedback from peers and supervisors.
– Contribute to the school’s professional learning community by sharing best practices and collaborating with colleagues.
6. Extracurricular Involvement:
– Support and participate in school events, activities, and clubs related to English language and literature.
– Encourage and mentor students in extracurricular pursuits such as debates, literary clubs, and writing competitions.
– Organize and lead extracurricular activities that promote a love for the English language and enhance students’ skills.
7. Communication and Collaboration:
– Communicate effectively with parents and guardians to keep them informed about their child’s progress and any concerns.
– Collaborate with other teachers, school counselors, and staff to provide a holistic support system for students.
– Participate in staff meetings, parent-teacher meetings, and other school functions as required.
– Foster a spirit of teamwork and cooperation within the English department and across the school.
Qualifications and Skills-PGT English Teacher job
Educational Background:
– Bachelor’s degree in English, Education, or a related field. A Master’s degree in English or Education is preferred.
– B.Ed. (Bachelor of Education) or equivalent teaching certification.
Professional Experience:
– 3-5 years of experience teaching English at the higher secondary level (classes 11 and 12).
– Proven track record of successful classroom management and student engagement.
– Experience in curriculum development and lesson planning.
