Role Overview:
The Hospital Sweeper is responsible for performing a variety of cleaning and janitorial duties to maintain the cleanliness and hygiene of hospital premises, including patient rooms, corridors, waiting areas, restrooms, and other common areas. With 1-2 years of experience in janitorial or housekeeping roles, the ideal candidate will possess strong attention to detail, effective time management skills, and a commitment to upholding cleanliness standards in a healthcare setting. This position offers an opportunity to contribute to the overall well-being and comfort of our patients and support the smooth functioning of our hospital operations.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Cleaning and Sanitization:
– Sweep, mop, vacuum, and dust hospital floors, walls, ceilings, furniture, fixtures, and equipment to remove dirt, debris, and contaminants, ensuring a clean and sanitary environment.
– Empty trash cans, waste bins, and sharps containers regularly, disposing of waste materials according to hospital policies, infection control guidelines, and environmental regulations.
– Clean and sanitize patient rooms, examination rooms, treatment areas, and public spaces using appropriate cleaning agents, disinfectants, and equipment to prevent the spread of infections and maintain hygiene standards.

2. Restroom Maintenance:
– Clean and disinfect hospital restrooms, including toilets, sinks, countertops, mirrors, and fixtures, to ensure cleanliness, hygiene, and availability of essential supplies, such as soap, paper towels, and toilet paper.
– Monitor restroom facilities for cleanliness, functionality, and safety hazards, reporting any maintenance issues or repair needs to the appropriate authorities for prompt resolution.

3. Floor Care and Maintenance:
– Strip, wax, and polish hospital floors using floor cleaning machines, buffers, and polishers to maintain a clean, shiny, and slip-resistant surface.
– Perform routine maintenance tasks, such as spot cleaning, stain removal, and floor repairs, to preserve the integrity and appearance of hospital floors and floor coverings.

4. Infection Control and Waste Management:
– Adhere to infection control protocols, safety procedures, and personal protective equipment (PPE) requirements while performing cleaning tasks, minimizing the risk of cross-contamination and exposure to infectious agents.
– Handle and dispose of biohazardous waste, hazardous materials, and regulated medical waste in accordance with hospital policies, OSHA regulations, and environmental guidelines.

Qualifications and Skills:

– High school diploma or equivalent qualification.
– 1-2 years of experience in janitorial, housekeeping, or cleaning roles, preferably in a healthcare or institutional setting.
– Knowledge of cleaning techniques, sanitation principles, and infection control practices.
– Ability to follow oral and written instructions, work independently or as part of a team, and prioritize tasks efficiently.
– Physical stamina and endurance to perform repetitive tasks, lift and move heavy objects, and work in various environmental conditions.
– Excellent attention to detail, reliability, and a proactive approach to maintaining cleanliness standards.
