Job Summary-AutoCAD and Solid work job

As an AutoCAD and SolidWorks Design Engineer, you will oversee the design and development of press tools, jigs, fixtures, and gauges for sheet metal, welded, and tubular parts. This role requires expertise in 2D drafting, 3D modeling, and tool development using AutoCAD and SolidWorks software. The candidate should have a strong background in the automotive parts sheet metal industry and be skilled in collaborating with cross-functional teams to execute new projects effectively.


Key Responsibilities-AutoCAD and Solid work job

  1. Design and Development
  • Design and develop press tools, including tandem and progressive tools.
  • Create and develop jigs, fixtures, and gauges for sheet metal parts, welding components, and tubular parts.
  • Prepare 3D models, 2D drafts, and BOM (Bill of Materials) using AutoCAD and SolidWorks software.
  1. Technical Review and Approval
  • Perform technical reviews of design concepts to ensure feasibility and efficiency.
  • Approve designs with a proactive approach to eliminate potential defects during the design phase and manufacturing process.
  1. Tool Room and Maintenance Support
  • Support the tool room and tool maintenance teams to enhance productivity and minimize breakdowns.
  • Provide insights to optimize tooling processes and improve manufacturing efficiency.
  1. Customer Requirement Analysis
  • Understand customer requirements by thoroughly studying 2D drawings and 3D data.
  • Provide cost-effective and innovative solutions that meet customer expectations and align with new technologies.
  1. Vendor and Material Coordination
  • Coordinate with material vendors and external suppliers to procure tools, jigs, and fixtures.
  • Oversee the manufacturing of tools and ensure adherence to quality and timelines.
  1. Project Planning and Execution
  • Collaborate with the NPD (New Product Development) team and tool room to plan and execute new projects.
  • Ensure that project deliverables meet customer schedules, quality standards, and cost objectives.
  1. Cost Estimation and Analysis
  • Estimate tooling processes, tooling costs, and part costs.
  • Perform detailed cost analyses to provide accurate and competitive pricing for projects.
  1. Process Improvement
  • Continuously evaluate and improve design processes to increase efficiency and reduce costs.
  • Implement innovative design solutions to enhance the quality and performance of tools and parts.
  1. Documentation and Reporting
  • Maintain detailed records of designs, drawings, and modifications.
  • Create and present technical reports, including progress updates, design reviews, and project summaries.

Preferred Candidate Profile-AutoCAD and Solid work job

Technical Expertise

  • Must have 2-5 years of experience in the automotive parts sheet metal industry.
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD and SolidWorks for 2D drafting and 3D modeling is essential.
  • Strong knowledge of sheet metal manufacturing processes, including press shop operations, welding, and CNC bending.

Problem-Solving Skills

  • Ability to analyze complex design challenges and provide innovative solutions.
  • Hands-on experience with Kaizen, poka-yoke, and process improvement methodologies is a plus.

Communication and Teamwork

  • Excellent communication and presentation skills.
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team and independently when required.
  • Proactive initiator who can lead discussions and contribute to collaborative problem-solving.

Software and Tools Knowledge

  • Proficiency in MS Office, including Excel, Word, and PowerPoint, for documentation and reporting.
  • Familiarity with design and manufacturing software tools beyond AutoCAD and SolidWorks is advantageous.

Educational Background

  • Bachelor’s degree (B.E./B.Tech) or Diploma in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
